Major Update [Feb. 22nd, 2008|10:38 am]
When your world decides it is time to change you think you would get more notice.

On Jan 15th I quit the job I was 2 seconds away from getting fired from and decided to go to Pocatello Idaho for a bit of a vacation. My Step-father was getting worse and I wanted to see him while I could. I had almost made the decision to move back to Pocatello at this point, but was not sure. I was going to stay on vacation for about 2 weeks and mull it over. As it got closer to time for me come back to Salt Lake I decided to stay another week and leave on Monday the 11th.

On Sunday, February 10, shortly after his lunch, my step-father passed away. He was the man who raised me and helped me see the person I hope to be by being an example of that person. I will miss him every day.

After a short discussion with my sisters, it would seem that I am now a homeowner. I will be moving back to Pocatello on the 23rd of February to take ownership of the house I was raised in (4 - 5 bedrooms).

I wish I could trade it for another few years with my step-dad, but the decision of move or not move is no longer an issue. I will miss Salt Lake a bit and will miss my friends a lot.

Thank you for all of your kind words the past few days. Message me if you want my new address.

Much love to you all,

Chris

Holy Cow!!! [Sep. 3rd, 2006|03:15 am]
[mood | drunk]

What a great night. You know it was good when you have to exert all of your concentration on pressing the right keys.

First, fun wedding and reception (with a free open bar)!!!

Second, super (nasty) fun at Area 51.

More tomorrow when I am a bit sober (or hungover).

The only man to show up in my "Look-alikes" was Patrick Swayze (sp?). Odd.

My Birthday Weekend. [Aug. 15th, 2006|11:44 am]
[mood | happy]

So, it started on Saturday with an extra day off. I went to the club after a fun b-b-q at Bu's parents house. The club was fun and I ran into a couple of people I had not seen in a while. I drank 2 pitchers of beer and 2 shots of Jager. The black-out I was looking for didn't happen, but it was still fun.

Sunday was a lay around the house day until Bu and I went to the Z Mandarin Buffet for dinner. It was SUPER GOOD!!! I loves me some chinese buffet! We then watched a movie and went to bed early.

Yesterday we went shopping for my gift. I finally have speakers for my computer! We came home and made a vegan chocolate silk pie for today and watched V for Vendetta. I LOVED it! I have not been moved by a movie in a long time, and was quite impressed with it's social relevance. I would recommend it to everyone.

Today I hope to do something fun (as I have today off as well). The details have yet to be decided.

A quick and heartfelt thanks to all who wished me a Happy Birthday. I love all of my friends. Later.

Birthday!!! [Aug. 11th, 2006|07:54 pm]
[mood | chipper]

So, my birthday is this Tuesday. I am going to celebrate by going to Area 51 on Saturday and seeing how much alcohol it takes for me to black-out! Anyone that wants to join me is welcome to come out and watch the hilarity that is sure to ensue. I will then sleep most of Sunday then go to dinner with my fab roommate Bu. I am not sure what to do on the actual day of my birth, but I am sure I will think of something. Any suggestions?

Starting normal life mode... [Jun. 19th, 2006|12:35 am]
[mood | pleased]

I am fully unpacked and almost completely set up. I start my new job on Tuesday and will then be able to know my times of availability. I have been getting up before noon every day since I have been here, and must get up by 8:30 every morning in order to be at work by 11:00. Yes, I must leave almost 2 hours early because of the bus schedule.

I am so pleased with how the apartment is looking. Bu has some great stuff. I am still in love with the view from our front window but still hate the stairs. Alas, one must take the bad with the good. We will be holding a house-warming party here in the next while (a small-ish dinner party or two) and then it will be a home.

If you want the address or my new phone number let me know.

Must go to bed now.

Chris

Evil! [Jun. 15th, 2006|07:09 pm]
[mood | exhausted]

The bus ride to Teleperformance is EVIL!!! It is over an hour long with a 25 min. walk at the end! Well, I wanted to be thinner. Here is my chance.

P.S. What is going on tonight that is free-ish?

Woot, Woot! It's done (almost)! [Jun. 13th, 2006|01:01 pm]
[mood | accomplished]

I am now successfully moved! In spite of the downpour that soaked my stuff (the TV works by the way) and the horrid stairs of doom that made my legs sore for days and made my butt hurt (not a word) when I walked, I am nearly done. I have the kitchen today, then I go in to work tomorrow and get that set up.The bus ride out there will be ok once I find out which bus to take. I guess I should call them. I have yet to leave the apartment and I wonder if I will have a life here or not. We shall see. Well, I must get busy if I want to get things done.

Talk to you all later,
Chris

P.S. I now have my DSL up and running. It would have been a lot sooner if I had known that the jack in my room didn't work! GRRR!!!

This must be quick... [Jun. 10th, 2006|11:16 pm]
I am at my roommate's parents house getting some of his stuff, and he has internet. I won't be online til monday. My new apt. is going to kill me! There are 30 stairs up to my door. Now imagine a fat guy and an old man hauling all of my stuff up those stairs. I made 40 or so trips up, now I can hardly walk. I will be better tomorrow.

Chris

P.S. I forgot to mention the downpour when we got here. I won't be able to plug in my T.V. for many days.

So long Pocatello, Hello Salt Lake! [Jun. 9th, 2006|06:29 am]
[mood | exhausted]

It is almost 6:30 in the AM, and the only thing I have left to pack is my computer. I will almost miss my tiny hole in the ground (almost). In about 4 hours I must wake up and load the trucks (yes, 2 of them). Another night of 3 1/2 hours of sleep *sigh*. I will let everyone know when I make it safely.

Till then,

Chris

Moving day! [Jun. 7th, 2006|04:49 pm]
[mood | excited]

Well, Friday is the day that I move. I am SO excited about the move and the chance to FINALLY be close to some of my best friends in the whole wide world! I am a bit sad to move from Pocatello. Not because of the place, but the friends I am leaving behind. Salt Lake is only a couple of hours away though, and I have family in Pocatello. I expect to make the trip a couple of times a year. Well, I must go finish packing. I will see you all soon!

I know that no one reads the long ones, so hear goes.

I will be moving to Salt Lake on the 9th of June (yes, I will miss the firs day of Dark Arts). I have a place with Bu in the U of U area (lower) that is 2 bedrooms for *gasp* $600.00 a month!!! I will let all know when I get there and give all my address.

To my friends in Idaho, I will miss you all and you must come down and see me.

That is all.

What a great night!!! [May. 22nd, 2006|04:58 am]
[mood | content]
[music |The Queen and the Soldier - Suzanne Vega]

I just got home from the very last Necropolis Goth Night in Pocatello ever. This was the most well-attended non-Fetish Ball Necropolis ever! There were at least 50 people there (a lot for a Necropolis night) and all of them were my friends. I want to thank all who attended, and to shame all who said they would be there but weren't. Just kidding! I am sure that all of you who didn't attend had a good reason. I feel so loved on days like this and it makes me sad that I am moving to Salt Lake in June (not enough to not go). I will miss all of the great friend that i have made in the past 5 1/2 years. You should all come down and see me! I will be coming back to Pocatello from time to time since all of my family lives here, so we will see each other again.

I just wanted to post the playlist for ALL FIVE HOURS that I provided music for (brace yourselves!). I like to think there is a little something for everyone, and I think everyone had fun.

WARNING!!! Long playlist ahead! If this bores you, turn back now! )

A short story requested by a friend. [Apr. 11th, 2006|09:57 pm]
The Misadventures of Adele and her Inkwell:
A short, short story by Chris Cornwall

A lovely young girl named Adele was shopping in a small second-hand store in a back alley while on vacation. Now as one well knows, old back-alley second-hand stores are always ran by a mysterious, inscrutable asian man (no particular race, just "asian") who mysteriously offers the right person a product that is not for sale to the general public. In this case the asian man offered our heroine the chance to by an inkwell. Knowing that such wares offered from the back rooms of back-alley second-hand stores by inscrutable asian men of indeterminate heritage always have magical properties, Adele jumped at the opportunity.

In her joy at finally getting one of these offers and her haste to take advantage of said offer, Adele missed 2 crucial steps. she did not ask what the magical properties were, and she didn't find out the "rules" such as never fill it with green ink or never write with the matching pen on papyrus scrolls after Labor day. Now these rules may not make sense, but the rules associated with such back-alley asian purchases never do. Had she bothered to find out such things she would have had no misadventures at all. The story to follow would have been full of healing the poor and raising the hemlines and such nice things as that, but while staying up late to write invitations to her Egyptian-themed Halloween party on authentic papyrus scrolls Adele used her new inkwell and matching pen. Now this was after Labor day, and well before Easter so the unknown rule was inadvertently broken causing the formerly good inkwell to become an evil inkwell that drained the life force of all who tried to use it (other than Adele) and to transfer their power and life to Adele the next time she used the matching pen.

The first (and only) victim of this dark curse just happened to be Adele herself. This strange situation came about one night while Adele was sleeping. Unbeknownst to our doomed heroine she was a somnambulist with multiple personalities. The said personalities only made themselves known while Adele was asleep (where she lived quite alone, no one else was aware of this condition either). One personality, a rugged Alaskan from Juno named Francis, was madly in love with Adele and often wrote her love notes when she was asleep while the other, a Puerto Rican exchange student who was secretly in love with Francis, would promptly throw then away. Since the notes were always gone in the morning, Adele was none the wiser. Well, after the long night of invitation making, Adele went to bed for some much need sleep. After about an hour, Francis awoke and set about his usual note writing. Now the pen recognized one's persona and not the actual body of the person writing, and mistook Adele/Francis for a strange man and, seeing its chance to fill it's new dark purpose promptly drained all of Francis/Adele's life force. This, of course, led directly to Adele's demise and rendered the curse null and void. The officers investigating the next week were surprised to find a note to Adele from a strange man named Francis, and figured that his confession of love had shocked Adele so much that her heart had stopped. A search followed, but no Francis was ever found. The inkwell and matching pen were sold at the estate sale for $19.99 and since the auctioneer was not even remotely asian, the curse never showed up again.

The end.

This Saturday... [Mar. 24th, 2006|03:18 pm]
My choir will be in Salt Lake performing at Westminster College (1840 S. 1300 E.) this Saturday. The concert is free and starts at 8:00 PM. It is in the concert hall at the Eccles Building on the north east corner of the campus by the parking garage. Did you get all of that?

After the concert and dinner at the Spaghetti Factory I will be going to Area 51. Go to the concert if you like, and I hope to see you at Area later.

Thanks,

Chris
